MoICT Vision Statement

A competitive ICT sector that is given the widest possible scope to enhance the quality of life of citizens and contribute to the socio - economic development of the Kingdom

Mission

The mission of the MoICT is to achieve its vision by providing the following support to stakeholders:

1.
Creating the legal, institutional and commercial environment for a market that rewards innovation and yields products and services at affordable prices to consumers.
2.
Strengthening and championing the competitive position of the ICT sector domestically, regionally and internationally.
3.
Providing an example of good governance in its drive for efficiency, social inclusion and human resource development.
4.
Ensuring that ICT resources are exploited by Government entities in the most efficient way possible, consistent with best practices and free market principles.
5.
Increasing skill sets, confidence and work readiness amongst young Jordanians and expanding community understanding, application and use of ICT.


The National Strategic Plan

On The Information & Communications Technology Sectors & Postal Sector 2004 – 2007
This statement of national strategy fulfils the further obligation under Article 3 of the Telecommunications Law that MoICT “prepare a biennial national strategic plan for those sectors in accordance with this policy”. A similar requirement for strategy also arises under article 3 of the Postal Services Law. It is accordingly necessary to read this document in conjunction with the Statement of Government Policy.

Government Policy Paper

The MoICT seeks to create a clear and stable policy environment within which, initiatives, investment, and, necessary sector regulation can proceed with confidence.  Accordingly, and as per the requirements of the telecommunication law, the MoICT has issued the general ICT policy document.  The policy was approved by the council of Ministers on Sep 4th 2003.  The full document can be downloaded by clicking here.
