Overview
The Jordan Investment Board (JIB) is the government agency responsible
for promoting the investment opportunities that Jordan has to
offer in addition to providing services to investors by facilitating
investment procedures in Jordan. The entire range of services
offered by the JIB is free. These would include meet and assist
at the airport to the establishment and running of the project
and after care services.
Since its establishment in 1995, and its capacity, the Investment
Board has set the modernization of the Jordanian economy as its
prime goal by attracting the largest possible volume of Foreign
Direct Investment; one of its priorities has always been to improve
the quality of services provided to investors to ensure repeat
satisfaction.
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is one of the
fastest growing sectors in Jordan. It is one of the sectors that
the JIB vigorously promotes. The highly qualified human resources,
the availability of world-class infrastructure, and the success
of Jordanian IT companies all point to an outstanding example
of Jordan’s new position as a major regional IT hub.
The Investment Promotion Law grants customs duties exemptions
on fixed assets in addition to income tax exemptions according
to the development area in which a project is located. In addition,
the law allows for complete foreign ownership of IT companies.
