As part of the Ministry of
Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) effort in
reviewing Jordan's ICT sector Policy, an e-readiness assessment
study was conducted in the second quarter of this year, 2006.
The first e-Readiness Assessment of Jordan was conducted in
2002. The aim of the latest study is to evaluate the
achievements of Jordan with respect to e-Readiness since the
first assessment and identify areas that still remain
underdeveloped and require further action to be taken.
Jordan's E-readiness was
approached in the study from four directions:
o
Benchmarking Jordan’s progress in
utilizing ICT against that of other nations that have succeeded
in deploying information and communications technologies as
major economic drivers.
o
Identifying the achievements of
Jordan since the 2002 assessment and the remaining gaps.
o
Highlighting Jordan’s ICT
strengths, successes, opportunities and identify potential ICT-related
challenges that could serve as obstacles to Jordan’s economic
and social sector development
o
Underlining the ongoing
initiatives in Jordan and propose actions that would serve as
quick-win solutions and further directional recommendations to
close the gap between Jordan’s current level and the desired
state in terms of e-Readiness.
